Justice recognizes students, faculty and staff at Pleasant Valley Elementary

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Governor Jim Justice made a stop to recognize the students, teachers and staff at the Pleasant Valley Elementary School for their performance on the West Virginia Balanced Scorecard.

The school exceeded the standard in Attendance, Math Progress and English Language Arts progress.

“All of our kids need encouragement from our leaders and it just makes them better,” Justice said,It’s easy for me to encourage because I’m really proud of them.”

Principal Kim Middlemas says the outstanding results are a product of positive team work.

Middlemas said,”Positive works,” Middlemas said,”If I respect my teachers they respect the children we all respect one another and it works. It’s the way we do things here at Pleasant Valley.”

On Attendance, Middlemas says they use incentives to improve attendance. She credited the hard work and dedication of the teachers for academic performance.

Governor Justice spoke to the students about taking pride in themselves, helping each other and starting everyday with a positive attitude.
