Life, no mercy for Taylor County man in the murder of his wife

TAYLOR COUNTY, W.Va. – A Taylor County man has been sentenced to life in prison with mercy for New Year’s Eve killing of his wife.

Taylor County prosecutor John Bord provided details of the crime committed by John Hess, 47, of Flemington.

“December 31, 2017 in the Flemmington area of Taylor County the defendant shot his wife in the face with a 12 gauge shotgun loaded with buckshot,” Bord said.

Bord says the Taylor County Sheriff’s Department conducted the investigation.

“Yesterday the Taylor County Grand Jury, in 36 minutes, found John M. Hess guilty of first degree murder,”Bord said,”Wednesday morning we had the penalty phase of the trial and they returned a no mercy verdict.”

Hess was sentenced by Judge Alan D. Moats.
