Lost Creek man pleads guilty to unlawful possession of 13 firearms

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A Harrison County resident faces a decade in prison and fines after being convicted of unlawfully possessing multiple firearms.

Wade Highland, 45, of Lost Creek, pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday to one count of being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Highland was previously convicted in February 2009 of Grand Larceny in the Circuit Court of Harrison County. This conviction prohibits him from possessing firearms.

In August 2014, an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives found that Highland was in unlawful possession of 13 firearms.

He faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.00.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda Wesley prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.

U.S. Magistrate Judge John S. Kaull presided.
