CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A Harrison County woman has been sentenced to prison for her role in the death of a Clarksburg man.

A guilty plea entered by Tracy Renee Boals-Miller, 20, of Lumberport, to voluntary manslaughter was accepted Tuesday afternoon by the court.

She was then ordered by Harrison County Circuit Court Judge John Lewis Marks to serve 15 years in the penitentiary –with credit for time severed since she was incarcerated 511 days ago– and must reimburse the state’s Crime Victims Compensation Fund $1,000.

Boals will be eligible for parole in less than four years.

In March of last year, Darrell Golden was found dead near a pond on Jones Run Road by a fisherman.

Investigators claimed Boals was involved in the beating of Golden and then held his head under water until he was dead.

It is alleged that Boals was led to this killing by her codefendant, Shane Andrew Miller, 22, of Lumberport, who was seeking to silence Golden about a robbery committed in downtown Clarksburg.

After the two were eventually connected to the crime and charged, Miller came up with a plan to marry Boals in hopes it would mean she could not testify against him. However, this strategy failed as that provision does not apply to crimes committed together.

Boals began cooperating fully with the state in the case and reportedly cut ties with the entire Miller family in February.

In exchange for her cooperation –which Prosecuting Attorney Rachel Romano and Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Traci Cook said is vital to the case against Miller– the state developed a plea deal.

Miller’s trial was tentatively scheduled by Judge Marks to begin on November 9 and is expected to last around five days.
