Man charged after burning stolen car

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Officials from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department say Reginald Berry, 25, is in custody after stealing a car from a Morgantown business and setting it on fore in Fairmont.

Deputies initially responded to a report of suspicious person at Christine’s Hot Spot and found Berry laying near the front door smoking a cigarette. After noticing thick smoke coming from the back of the building Berry told police he set the car on fire.

Berry told police the car was left running at a Sheetz and he got it and drove to Fairmont. Berry said he stopped at Christine’s to get directions and dropped the key to the car while he was inside. When store would not let Berry back inside he set the car on fire.

Berry has been charged with arson and transferring stolen goods and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
