Marion County man accused of violating sex offender registry terms

MARION COUNTY, W.Va. – West Virginia State Police have arrested an accused sex offender in Marion County after he was reportedly trying to get into homes to get out of the heat.

Troopers responded along Husky Highway and identified the suspect as Charles H. Derby, a registered sex offender. Police offered to transport Derby to the address on his registration, but Derby told police he no longer lived at that location.

After determining Derby had not lived at the address for several months he was arrested for violating requirements to update his living situation and address.

Derby has been released on a personal recognizance bond.
