Mon River Rail Trail nominated for national honor

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Votes from Morgantown area residents could land the Mon River Rail Trail in the River Trail Conservancy (RTC) Hall of Fame, the local system is competing with others in California, Illinois and Pennsylvania.

The River Trail Conservancy makes nominations based on scenic value, high use, trail and trailside amenities, historical significance, excellence in management and maintenance of the facility, community connections and geographic distribution.

Residents are encouraged to vote through Monday, August 10 to put the Mon River Rail Trail into the hall.

For the last three decades the trial has provided educational and exercise opportunities.
