Submitted update from Monongalia County Homeland Security Emergency Management Agency

MORGANTOWN, WV – Emergency responders along with local and state governments has started preparations for a winter storm that is forecast to blanket our area with several inches of snow. Monongalia County Emergency Management officials have been participating in conference calls with multiple National Weather Service offices, local and county officials, and state officials since Tuesday.

“This is a very complex storm that we’re trying to prepare for as forecasts continue to strengthen in probability. This morning we were briefed to prepare for storm totals near a foot of heavy wet snow. This type of snow not only will cause dangerous travel but potential power outages with downed trees” said Mike Wolfe, Director of Monongalia County Homeland Security Emergency Management Agency.

Emergency officials urge residents to prepare ahead and monitor weather service watches and warnings along with their social media pages. More information will be provided Thursday for further preparedness information.
