Morgantown business redirects efforts to healthcare workers

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Morgantown-based City Neon, Inc. has been making business signs since 1963, but this week the business retools to do their part to assist in the COVID-19 fight.

Third generation owner, Chris Atkins says they quickly learned typical materials were not available, so they found sign-related materials that would work and made a plan.

“We’ve ordered all the materials and we’ll have them next week,Atkins said,”We’ll start making them in bulk, we enough materials to make about 7,000.” It’s face shield, a clear face shield with a band around the head, it’s a pretty simple design.”

Atkins tells WAJR News he wants to help his employees as well as helping the community.

“We wanted to help out in the community and keep my people busy, be able to pay them to keep coming to work,”Atkins said,”Everyone is pitching in and doing something right now to help the medical field, which sorely needs it.”

Atkins says due to the shortage of personal protective equipment they will sell in bulk to local businesses.

“Bags of 10, 50 or 100, large quantities,”Atkins said,”We want to sell to businesses so they do things safely and keep their employees safe.”
