Morgantown woman pleads guilty to arson

Gavel-RulingMORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A woman accused of setting fire to an apartment complex in Monongalia County could spend 5 to 20 years in prison. Sarah Beth Meckley, 33, of Morgantown, entered a guilty plea in federal court Thursday in Clarksburg. She was accused of using fire and explosives to maliciously damage or destroy Chateau Royale Apartment Complex. The charge, arson of a building used in interstate commerce, also carries a fine of up to $250,000. The fire in May 2014 was started on the second floor of a business office within the complex.
