Mother and her boyfriend plead guilty in baby drowning

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A mother and her live-in boyfriend entered guilty pleas in the drowning death of a 1-year-old Friday in Monongalia County Circuit Court.

Tiffany Bankhead, of Morgantown, and Jordan Kovach, Bankhead’s boyfriend at the time, pleaded guilty to child neglect resulting in the death of an infant.

Bankhead left her daughter with Kovach June 7, 2013 while she went to work.

When police responded to the home they shared, the found the baby had drowned in the bathtub and drug paraphernalia in the home along with wrappers for drugs used to treat opiod addictions.

Bankhead and Kovach were originally facing 15 years in prison on a charge of child neglect resulting in death.
