MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — In an effort to try to control traffic congestion in Morgantown for Saturday’s MountainFest, MECCA 911 and city police have released travel suggestions and traffic modifications.
The centralized location of many festival events are at Mylan Park.
I-79 TO MYLAN PARK
Motorcyclists are urged to exit Interstate 79 at Exit 155 (Star City Exit) and follow Chaplin Road to the venue.
Cars and other vehicles should exit Interstate 79 at Exit 152 (Westover) and follow Fairmont Road to Sugar Grove Road to Chaplin Road.
Heaviest traffic is expected in that area from 4:00 p.m. through 2:00 a.m. Sunday.
PARADE ROUTE
For the MountainFest Motorcycle Rally Parade, Morgantown Police will close High Street at 10:00 a.m.
Only motorcycles will be permitted to park on High Street.
The 1:00 p.m. parade begins at the WVU Coliseum and proceeds south on
Monongahela Boulevard toward downtown Morgantown. The motorcade will travel up
Campus Drive and turn right onto University Avenue onto the “loop”. The motorcade will
then progress by the Mountainlair traveling toward High Street and the normal parade
route down High Street will then be followed.
