UPDATED: Multiple vehicle fatal crash in Barbour County under investigation

BELINGTON, W.Va. — As of about 5:30 p.m. Route 250 has been reopened.

 

Two people are dead and three have been flown to the hospital with serious injuries after a morning wreck in Barbour County.

The accident involved a large truck and three passenger vehicles. According to Barbour County 9-1-1 dispatchers the first calls came in about the wreck around 8:50 a.m. The crash occurred near the Barbour County Fairgrounds on U.S. Route 250 between Belington and Philippi.

All three victims were transported to the fairgrounds then flown for treatment.

First responders from Coalton, Philippi, Junior, along with Randolph County EMS, Harrison County EMS, Barbour County Sheriff’s Department, Philippi Police Department, West Virginia State Police and DEP responded to the accident.

West Virginia State Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
