ASHLAND COUNTY, OH – After almost 2 months on the run, an Ohio fugitive who eluded West Virginia police during a traffic stop is in custody.

Richard Lawless was wanted in northern Ohio in a drug investigation.

On July 9, Lawless passed through Harrison County where he was pulled over along Interstate 79. A passenger, Sara Krupansky was arrested. She is allegedly Lawless’ girlfriend. Lawless fled.

After travel through WV, Indiana, Utah and several other states, Lawless was arrested Friday in Summit County, Ohio.

Lawless reportedly took off from his Polk, OH home after he was interviewed by the DEA and Medina County Drug Task Force. Those investigators are expected to continue work on that case by searching the most recent home Lawless was believed to have been.

Ashland County’s Chief Deputy, Carle Richert II, released this statement:

“This type of case is exactly why our sheriff’s office partnered up with the U.S. Marshals. When a dangerous felon goes on the run, members of the task force can combine resources to bring this individual to justice.”
