On Giving Tuesday, the local United Way asks for your help

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – It’s giving Tuesday and the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties needs your help to reach their goal. On WAJRs “Talk of the Town,” campaign co-chair Amanda Mazey, wife of WVU baseball coach Randy Mazey reminded listeners all doantions stay in the county area to make an impact.

“We have raised over $830,000,” Mazey said. ” We are at 64-percent of our goal. Our goal is $1.3 million.”

During the 85th annual campaign for the organization residents are encouraged to donate any amount. Mazey said all of the small donations add up to do exactly what they’re trying to do- “Change the Game” for those less fortunate.

“Every little bit counts, if you can only $5 or $2 it all adds up,” Mazey said. “When we do hit that $1.3 million you can say you were a part of reaching that goal, so every donation does make a difference.”

On Giving Tuesday, donors should know 100-percent of donations to the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties stays in the two county area.

“The United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties helps support 36 programs, 27 different agencies that help with food and childrens causes.”

In addition to Mazey, Kate Covich, wife of WVU Golf coach Sean Covich; Brooke Brown, wife of WVU Football coach Neal Brown and Lindsay Hammond wife WVU Rifle Team coach Jon Hammond are co-chairs of the campaign.

“Our campaign is “Change the Game” and you can text “Change the Game to 41444 and make a donation,” Mazey said. ” Any little bit helps us reach our goal.”
