One arrested, 2 injured in Preston County collision

FELLOWSVILLE, W.Va. – One person was arrested and two people had to be flown to the hospital after a two vehicle crash in Preston County early Thursday morning.

According to the Preston County Sheriff’s Office, John Zogal, 35, of Tunnelton was traveling east on Route 50 near Fellowsville when his vehicle crossed the center line striking a truck driven by John Lipscomb, 51, of Eglon.

Two passengers in Lipscomb’s truck, Gordon Sphar, 52 of Rowlesburg and Kevin McDonough, 57, of Oakland, MD, had to be flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Investigators say Zogal had been drinking. He’s free on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond and faces a charge of driving under the influence resulting in bodily injury.
