One arrested following Morgantown pursuit

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A Friday chase through Morgantown landed Timothy Brooks, 30, in jail on Friday.

Deputies from the Mon County Sheriff’s Department were called to an area nursing because a subject with an outstanding warrant for malicious wounding was in the facility.

Brooks, of Morgantown, was leaving the facility when police arrived and slowed when he saw deputies. Brooks then sped away from the scene on Maple Drive reaching sppeds of up to 80-miles-per-hour.

During the pursuit police Brooks nearly caused accident while passing cars in an effort to getaway from police.

Brooks lost control of the vehicle at the Suncrest Towne Center, drove into a gravel parking lot and fled on foot.

Brooks surrendered when he was unable to jump a fence to continue running from police.

Deputies say there was a passenger in the car that was not injured.

Brooks faces fleeing with reckless indifference charges and is being held in lieu of a $75,000 bond in the North Central Regional Jail.
