SALEM, W.Va. – One person is recovering after being hit in the head with a pipe over a missing pair of shoes.
Police responded to the Salem Dollar General at 3:30 p.m. Monday and found the victim covered in blood and suffering a large laceration to the back of the head.
Police say the victim was asked to talk with George Cullers, 49, of Salem, in his home about a missing pair of shoes. As the victim left, Cullers allegedly hit him in the head with a large galvanized pipe.
The victim told police bystanders called 911 as he almost passed out while to escape Cullers.
Officers took Cullers into custody at the home where the blood spattered metal pipe was found.
Cullers has been charged with malicious assault
