FORT WORTH, Tx. – Pier 1 Imports Inc., with stores in Morgantown, Clarksburg and Greensburg, Pennsylvania is filing for bankruptcy protection and a possible sale. Company officials have set deadline of March 23, 2020 for potential bidders.
The home product retailer, was founded in 1962 and has been battling online retailers.
Lenders have allocated about $256 million in debtor-in-possession financing to continue operations during bankruptcy proceedings.
Last month, Pier 1 announced it would close two distribution centers, 450 stores, including all its stores in Canada.
So far, stores in the region have not made the list of stores closing.
