UPDATED: Poky Dot damaged by Friday morning fire

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Fairmont Fire Chief Ed Simmons says the fire is out at the Poky Dot.

The fire was reported at about 5 a.m., no injuries were reported.

Simmons said, “First unit reported a working fire, flames coming from the rear of the building and we initiated an aggressive interior attack.”

Simmons adds the fire was contained to the room of origin, the banquet room in the rear of the building. Investigators have found evidence that the fire may have been caused by an electrical problem, but nothing to indicate the blaze was suspicious in nature.

Simmons said,”It’s not a total loss by any means. If they aggressively get a restoration company in there and get some of the smoke and water out of there, in that area, hopefully the building department, fire department our inspection division and health department can work together and get them up and running sooner rather than later.”

The WVMetro News pictures show employees outside with doors open to air out the building.
