Police Investigating Possible Arson in Fayette County

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a possible arson-related fire at a home on Tanker Hill Road in the Fayetteville area.

Investigators called to the scene discovered the home was unoccupied. The homeowner reported that several appliances, including a stove and a refrigerator, appeared to have been stolen from the home before the fire started.

The fire began Tuesday afternoon.

The Fayetteville Police Department and the Fire and Arson Investigator for the Detective Bureau of the Sheriff’s Department believe their is a strong possibility that the fire was intentionally started.

Investigators ask anyone with information to come forward, specifically regarding anyone seen removing appliances from the residence or moving appliances in the area in the days and hours preceding the fire.
