KINGWOOD, W.Va. — The Preston County Grand Jury issued nearly 40 indictments Tuesday.
Among those charged, the jury indicted John David Dietz III, 28, of Reedsville, on a charge of DUI with death. Dietz was driving a UTV in the Red Rock Road area of Rowlesburg in August that was involved in an accident.
His wife, Brieanne Nicole Dietz, 28, was died as a result of the accident, despite being administered first aid by bystanders and state police.
Tuesday’s grand jury was a continuation from October, when it handed up 35 indictments after one day of deliberations. New Judge Steve Shaffer had to attend a judicial conference then, so the second day of jury was set for this week.
Preston Prosecutor Melvin C. Snyder III said large grand juries such as these are becoming the norm, because of the increase in crime in the county.

Roberts, Sara Ann, no age or address — two counts of forgery, two counts of uttering.
Tasker, Amber Lace, 31, of Arthurdale — two counts of forgery, two counts of uttering, one count conspiracy.
Albright, Christina, 39, of Reedsville — two counts of forgery, two counts of uttering, one count conspiracy.
Renshaw, Nathan Sean, 27, of Fairmont — burglary, two counts of grand larceny, breaking and entering.
Cramer, Paul Timothy, 26, of Terra Alta — nine counts of third-degree sexual assault, nine counts of sexual abuse.
Bueno, Gilbert Bruce, 33, of Morgantown — kidnapping, interfering with emergency communication, two counts of strangulation, two counts of domestic battery.
Uphold, Kaitlyn L., 23, of Kingwood — child neglect creating risk of injury.
Shahan, Scott Allen, 42, of Tygart Valley Regional Jail — escape, making terroristic threats.
Wilhelm, Joseph Patrick, 63, of Kingwood — two counts of possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver (Diludid and Methadone).
