PRESTON COUNTY, W.Va. – A Preston County man who was on the run after a deadly shooting Thursday night in Preston County is in State Police custody.
Troopers said John Wayne Strawser, of Terra Alta, was wanted for the murder of a woman at a home in Tunnelton. He turned himself in without incident.
The woman was shot around 11 p.m. Thursday night, according to information from Preston County emergency officials.
The vehicle Strawser was last seen in was found burned in eastern Preston County overnight.
Troopers, with the assistance of other law enforcement agencies, had been covering a search area that included Preston County, north central West Virginia and western Maryland.
