ResourceU program hoping to build up aspiring entrepreneurs in Morgatown

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A free seminar in Morgantown next week will connect aspiring small business owners with those who were once in their position.

“It is small business helping small business and we’re open to helping anybody who applies for help,” Steve Roberts, president of the state Chamber of Commerce said of their ResourceU program.

Speakers that have established themselves in the small business world will present ideas and advice to those who are looking to start out on their own or looking to expand their business.

Roberts said they will try to cover all the bases, including “How to hire, how to have a drug-free workforce, how to deal with accounting issues that may come up and how to be clued in to the state compliance and regulatory issues.”

Attendees will also have a chance to network after the seminars, giving them a chance to ask questions.

“The only bad question is the one that didn’t get asked,” Roberts said.

The free event is part of a statewide series organized by the chamber’s Small Business Committee in conjunction with the West Virginia Small Business Development Center, Leadership West Virginia and West Virginia Executive Magazine.

“We want to try and give people information that will be helpful to them,” Roberts said. “The whole goal is to be helpful, try to grow our state’s economy and provide opportunities for people that are really looking for the opportunity to stay in West Virginia.”

The event in Morgantown will be held from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Wednesday July 15 at the Hilton Garden Inn along Suncrest Town Centre Drive.

Future events will be held in Keyser on August 20, Wheeling on September 16 and Lewisburg on October 28.

More information about ResourceU can be found at the state Chamber Of Commerce’s website.

Though the event is free, preregistration is required, which can be done here.
