Search suspended for missing Morgantown man

MONONGALIA COUNTY, W.Va. – After searching nearly 850 acres and 1,000 man hours the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department has suspended the search John Lawson Magruder.

Investigators are continuing to follow leads in the case and would like to talk to anyone with additional information about Magruder. Information can be left by calling 304-292-7260.

Magruder, described as 5-feet 11-inches and 260 pounds, was last seen July 27 at 9:30 a.m. and was believed to be in the Coopers Rock area.

Sheriff Perry Palmer said units from the Granville Police Department, Morgantown City Police Department, West Virginia University Police Department, the Mountaineer Area Rescue Group, Allegheny Mountain Rescue Group, Maryland Search and Rescue, Northwest Pennsylvania K9
Search and Rescue, the Appalachian Search and Rescue Conference Remote Support Corps participated in the search.
