Six face federal charges for drug activity

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – A federal grand jury has indicted six people for selling dangerous drugs in Harrison, Marion, Monongalia and Lewis counties from October of 2019 to February of 2020.

Documents say David Monroe, James Audia II, Ashley Bennett, Joseph Hobbs, Steven Denkenberger Jr. and Charles Gaines Jr. are accused of conspiring to distribute cocaine hydrochloride, fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine.

Monroe has been charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. Audia is charged with distribution of methamphetamine and maintaining a drug-involved premises.

Denkenberger faces charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a firearm. Hobbs is charged with distribution of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute heroin, unlawful possession of a firearm, and maintaining a drug-involved premises.
