Smith indicted in Randolph murder case

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A grand jury in Mon County has indicted Gary Smith, 60, of Morgantown for a single charge of first degree murder in the killing of Alexa Randolph, 32.

Randolph was reported missing on January 28 when she failed to pick up her child. One day later her body was found in the cargo area of here Ford Escape parked in the parking lot of the Hornbeck Road Walmart.

Smith is the paternal grandfather of Alexa Randolph’s son.

Mon County detectives arrested Smith February 10 after he made suspicious statements during interviews. Smith is being held without bond in the North Central Regional Jail.
