The Taste of Morgantown changes Mylan Park venue due to weather concerns

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A well known local food event is ready to make it’s first return since the pandemic to Mylan Park Sunday from to 2 to 6 p.m. However, the event has been moved from the Track Complex to the Mon County Center and pavilion due to weather concerns.

The 12th annual event, will return after a two year hiatus and is an all day affair that encourages residents and their families to try out different types of cuisine available around the Morgantown Area.

“They have a variety of restaurants, just like all the previous years that are participating throughout the area,” said Mylan Park Community Events Coordinator Danielle Rudash. “They’re going to be serving, tastes of some of their top dishes in hopes to win an array of awards,” she said.

Several well known local food establishments will participate in the 12th annual Taste of Morgantown. Among them, include restaurant mainstays like Black Bear Burritos and Peppebroni’s, as well as Sabraton’s Sweet Southern Smoke BBQ, and local food truck vendors, where each will participate in the Taste of Morgantown’s food competition.

“This is new to the event,” said Rudash on the inclusion of food trucks. “So we thought that since it was outdoor, we might as well get the food trucks included, and it kind of brings and even playing field for the restaurants and food trucks to have an opportunity to show what they’re about and showcasing their top dishes,” she said.

The money generated from the 12th annual Taste of Morgantown, will go to the American Red Cross and their various charitable efforts, with flood relief efforts in Kentucky included. Mylan Park, will be in cooperation with the Red Cross, to help in ensuring dollars spent enjoying local food vendors, will be used directly in the Morgantown Area community.

“The money is going to the Red Cross for their Where It’s Needed Most campaign, and then at Mylan Park it’s going to be funding all types of community events that we do here for the next, probably six months or so,” said Rudash.

Tickets are available on Mylan Park’s website for the 12th Annual Taste of Morgantown and will be available . There will also be tickets available the day of the event, which will allow for select food and drink tastings for $10 and $20 respectively. Anyone who wishes to be able to try all of over twenty local vendors in attendance, as well as access to the Aquatic Center’s Splash Pad is encouraged to purchase the All Access Punch Card before the festivities begin.

“Our real hope was to create more of a family friendly atmosphere up here at the track complex,” Rudash said. “We have a kids zone that will create some fun for the kids that are there, we have beer trucks for the adults, so we’re really trying to attract everyone,” she said.
