Theft report leads to drug arrest in Morgantown

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – An investigation into a man looking into vehicles off of Earl L. Core Road in Morgantown resulted in an arrest and pursuit Sunday.

A report from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department says Christopher Alt, 32, of Morgantown, took off on a motorcycle when he saw deputies nearby.

As he pulled away police say he almost lost control and crashed. When police caught up to Alt, he had crashed in a wooded area and fled on foot into the woods. Alt was quickly captured by police.

Alt told police he ran because he did not have license and he was scared.

During a search of his backpack police found eight packages of a substance that tested positive for heroin, methamphetamine and one-half of a Xanax pill.

Alt has been charged with grand larceny and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
