Trooper hurt in wrong way crash

MONONGALIA COUNTY, W.Va. – A West Virginia State Trooper is recovering from minor injuries following a wrng way crash on I-79 Wednesday morning at 7:15.

Sgt. D. Barger says both drivers are being treated for minor injuries at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

“James Davie, 87, of Washington, Pennsylvania was traveling north in the southbound lanes and collided with a trooper that was traveling south,” Barger said.

Barger says the investigation shows Davie may have entered the interstate at 152 or 155 mile marker due to confusion. Impairment is not suspected.

“The Trooper and Mr Davie were transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital to undergo sme evaluations which later revealed there were no injuries,”Barger said,”We’re very fortunate.”

As a result og the investigation, Davie was issued two citations.
