Troopers recover quantity of fentanyl from milkshake during Clarksburg traffic stop

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – A Shinnston resident is facing drug charges after police said they found suspected fentanyl hidden in a milkshake during a traffic stop.

On Thursday, troopers from the West Virginia State Police stopped Jeremy Wright, 42, for a cracked windshield and a seatbelt violation on Route 50.

While troopers spoke to Wright, they also determined the vehicle inspection sticker was fraudulent, and he had two outstanding arrest warrants in Marion County and an active misdemeanor charge in Harrison County.

When police asked Wright to exit the vehicle, he did so with a milkshake that he placed on the bumper of the vehicle. Troopers quickly observed a blue container inside the milkshake.

Troopers said the blue container contained a white powder that tested positive for fentanyl. The drugs had an estimated street value of $18,000.

Wright has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
