MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – WVU officials announced two academic calendars for the up coming fall semester. One for the Morgantown campus that is on a one week delay and one for graduate students and professional programs in Beckley and Keyser that will follow the August 19 return to classes.

Students in professional programs should contact with their administrators to verify the start dates. Health sciences students can expect notification from deans or department directors regarding start dates.

Both academic calendars will provide 15 weeks of academic instruction.

Under the August 19 return to class schedule, registration will begin August 17. The final day of face-to-face instruction will be Tuesday, November 24 and fall recess will be from Wednesday, November 25 through Sunday, November 29. In preparation for final exams, review week will be from Monday, November 30 through Friday, December 4 and finals will be conducted from Monday, December 7 through Friday, December 11. A virtual commencement ceremony will be held December 19 and students will return for the spring semester on Friday, January 15 for registration.

Under the August 26 return to class schedule, registration begins August 24. The final day of face-to-face instruction is Tuesday, November 24 and fall recess, review week, finals and commencement are unchanged.

University officials have changed the attendance and emergency leave policies for students or faculty to allow for any COVID-19 related illness, quarantine or isolation.

Students and faculty are also required to complete a COVID-19 education module and must complete it by August 22. Students who fail to complete the module will receive a $250 fee and staff can be subject to disciplinary actions.

The Rec Center will start the semester closed, but will open in phases in the coming weeks. On-campus dining facilities will open in phases and all locations will be operational by August 19. Dining facilities on the Beckley and Keyser campuses will be open starting Thursday, Aug. 6. Officials say dining instructions for students awaiting test results will be released in the coming days.

Residence hall move-in will be Saturday, August 15 through Saturday, August 22 and students urged to contact the university to reserve a move-in time.

Students who have moved to complete online course delivery will receive a $440 credit in student fees. There will be a 6.42% pro-rata reduction in residence hall costs and a 6.36% pro-rata reduction in Go 10, Go 13 and Go Anytime dining plans to account for the reduced time on campus. There will be no changes to Prime plans or Dining Dollars. The payment deadline for fall charges has been extended to September 1 from August 1. Late fees assessed on Monday, August 3 will only be assessed for unpaid balances on previous semesters.
