WVU students demand an end to COVID restrictions, plan Friday march to Gee’s residence

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A group of WVU students have announced plans to hold the Save WVU March on Friday, September 25 at 6 p.m. The march will begin at the Mountainlair and end at president Gordon Gee’s home on the Evansdale campus.

The students plan to march with masks on asking president Gee to loosen COVID-related restrictions immediately.

The students have released a list of demands and say if they are met by Friday the march will be cancelled. Here is a list of what students want:

  1. Assure all dorms and on campus apartments remain open
  2. Social gatherings allowed with masks
  3. Students should be allowed to attend sporting events with masks
  4. WVUp Allnight free food to be brought back for the weekends
  5. Return to in-person classes with masks
  6. Wvu issued antibody tests to all students for free
  7. Bars, clubs and restaurants fully open on the condition masks are worn and there are temperature checks
  8. Open the Rec Center and require masks
  9. Free masks for students
  10. Fully reopen dining services
  11. Host a campus discussion about police brutality and secrecy 3
  12. Greek life and student groups should be allowed to have in-person activities and meetings
