YCF helps 19 nonprofits during pandemic

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Your Community Foundation of North Central West Virginia, Inc. (YCF) has awarded 19 grants to assist nonprofits dealing with increased need due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The grants meet food, shelter and safety needs of those less fortunate in Harrison, Marion, Monongalia, Preston and Taylor
Counties.

The following organizations have been awarded grants from YCF’s Emergency Impact Fund:
Bartlett House, Inc.; Bi-County Nutrition Program, Inc., Christian Help, Inc., Connecting Link, Inc., Food for Preston, Harrison County Senior Citizens Center, Homes for Harrison, Libera, Inc., Marion County Schools, Monongalia County Starting Points Family Resource Center (Shack
Neighborhood House), Morgantown Area Meals on Wheels, Pantry Plus More, Inc., Preston County Workshop, Rape & Domestic Violence Information Center, Salvation Army -Morgantown, Taylor County Family Resources, The Clarksburg Mission, Inc., the United Way of
Marion and Taylor Counties, and the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties.

“Our committee narrowed the applications as much as they could,” Patty Showers Ryan, YCF President said,”We are granting 19 agencies, nonprofits with a little over $40,000.”

The unprecedented need throughout the area has been almost overwhelming, and continues to grow.

“An immense amount of need in the community right now for nonprofits that are on the front lines trying to work through the pandemic we’re in the middle of,” Showers-Ryan said.

One-hundred percent of any donation coming from a business, foundation or individual goes directly to help those in the five county region.

“We’re putting cash in and immediately granting it out to the nonprofits, there are no fees involved,”Showers-Ryan Said,” I can promise you one-hundred percent of it stays in the five county area that YCF serves.”

As needs grow, local nonprofits directors are left with tough decisions to make, so these grants come at a critical time.

“These nonprofit directors and their staff are under so much stress right now trying to respond immediately to the changing needs of the community,” Showers-Ryan said,”So, we simplified the application on our website, we are also moving it along every two weeks.”

Nonprofits can apply multiple times for assistance.
