CHARLESTON, W.Va. – A bill to reunify Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community and Technical College has been introduced in the House of Delegates. House Bill 2805 will will bring nationally recognized Fairmont State University programs with courses of study offered at the Pierpont College of Community and Technical Education.
This reunification will provide a path for traditional and non-traditional students. The unified institution will be a benefit to North Central West Virginia, industries and perspective students.
This year, Fairmont State University has recorded increases in enrollment and revenues, and decreases in expenses. In addition, Fairmont State recorded the highest Composite Financial index in the State among four-year state institutions. It is estimated that through the elimination of duplicative services, realized efficiencies can be reinvested into programs and facility enrichment.
