Knotts enters plea in husband’s murder

KINGWOOD, W.Va. – A Preston County woman entered a Kennedy Plea Tuesday in connection to the 2014 death of her husband.

Nicole Knotts, 25, is accused of shooting and killing Matthew Knotts on March 13, 2014, and hiding his body under clothes and household items in her home. West Virginia State Police discovered the body on March 18, 2014.

The shooting happened following an argument between the couple.

Knotts entered a plea for voluntary manslaughter, and faces three to 15 years in prison. She was originally charged with first-degree murder and concealment of a deceased human body.

Knotts would be eligible for parole in three years. She has already served three years in jail in connection to the incident.

Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 5.
