Marion County judge hands down sentence in robbery, assault case

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – A man has been sentenced in Fairmont in connection July 2021 fight that turned deadly.

Dorian Clay was initially charged with unlawful assault after the incident, but charges were upgraded to murder after the victim, Gregory Lamb, died and an autopsy tied his death to trauma injuries from the fight. In January of this year, Clay entered a plea of not guilty to attempted robbery and assault charges in January of this year.

Clay has been sentenced by Marion County Circuit Court Judge to 20 years for the first-degree attempted robbery charge and 2-10 years on assault during the commission of a felony.

The judge ordered the terms to be served concurrently, but not until a 7-28 year sentence is complete that he is already serving for other crimes.

Clay is serving his sentence at the Huttonsville Correctional Center in Randolph County.
