MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A Morgantown man has been arrested after allegedly fleeing the scene of a fatal accident on Route 7 in Richard Friday.
Troopers attempted stop Daniel Emerson, 28, and a female passenger for not wearing seatbelts just before 11 a.m. Friday. Emerson crossed the centerline and struck an ambulance killing a female passenger in his car.
Emerson fled on foot after the crash. A trooper pursued Emerson for a short period before returning to the scene of the crash to find the woman dead at the scene.
Emerson was apprehended later inside a home on Pixler Hill Road and was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident causing death.
He is currently in North Central Regional Jail on a $250,000 bond.
