THE SERIES
Morgantown has won three in a row over Parkersburg south and is 9-2 versus the Patriots since 2005.

MOHIGAN NOTES
Morgantown is off to an 0-2 start but it has had to face one of the top teams in Pennsylvania and one of the top teams in Ohio during the first two weeks of the season. Despite allowing 341 yards rushing last week to Steubenville, the Mohigan defense played well and kept Morgantown in the game for much of the night. A big and deeper Steubenville team finally was able to wear down Morgantown in the second half and pull away for the win. Morgantown needs to find some offense soon. The Mohigans are averaging just 85 yards of total offense so far. Last week, Morgantown was only able to muster two first downs for the entire game.

PARKERSBURG SOUTH NOTES
The Patriots are young and inexperienced in a lot of position. Last week, Parkersburg South gave up 207 yards passing to University quarterback Clay Bailey. The Hawks limited Parkersburg South to just 100 yards rushing and 89 yards passing.

During the first game of the season, Ripley ran the ball 57 times for 231 yards to power its way to a 28-12 win.

Parkersburg South is especially young on defense, where graduation gutted the unit.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Mohigan linebacker Cole Streyle had a 30-yard interception return last week against Steubenville. The senior solidifies the middle of the Morgantown defense.

Also, keep an eye on No. 25 Javohn Moore. He has elusiveness in the open field and can run away from defenders, if Morgantown can get the ball in his hads. Moore had a 49-yard touchdown catch on a screen pass against the Big Red.

NEXT UP
Morgantown returns to Pony Lewis field next week to play host to Brooke. That game can be heard exclusively on wajrsports.com.
