Accused WVU building hopper maintains innocence in circuit court

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Bail has been denied and a trial date is set for a man accused of building hopping on WVU’s campus.

Dong Xu, 38, was arrested in March after police determined he’d been storing possessions above ceiling tiles, stealing items from offices and essentially living in campus facilities for up to a year.

Xu was discovered in a lab at the university where investigators say he was illegally using a campus computer and looking at child pornography.

Xu plead not guilty before Monongalia County Circuit Court Judge Susan Tucker after a grand jury indicted him on charges of entering without breaking and possession of materials showing minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Xu’s case is expected to go to trial in June.
