Alabama suspect charged with arson following state police investigation

MONONGALIA COUNTY, W.Va. A suspect from Alabama is accused of setting brush fires in Monongalia County.

Firefighters from the River Road Volunteer Fire Department and West Virginia State Police were dispatched to the intersection of Wiseman and Glory Barn Roads at 5:15 p.m. Monday on a report of a fire.

While responding, first responders received several reports of a shirtless man lighting mailboxes and a brush on fire in that area.

The suspect, Christopher Robert Ledoux, 37, of Orange Beach, Ala., was caught by police setting a fire down a driveway off Wiseman Road.

At the scene, Ledoux would not comply with commands and had to be taken into custody by force.

Troopers said they found evidence that Ledoux had set eight fires in the area.

Ledoux is charged with arson and is being held in the North Central Regional Jail in lieu of a $15,000 bond.
