MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia University Health Sciences Center-North building was evacuated Thursday morning due to a localized gas leak.
WVU Safety and Wellness released a statement at 11:20 a.m. giving the all clear to reenter the building.
“The evacuation is out of an abundance of caution and to allow utility crews to more efficiently address the situation,” said University Police Chief Sherry St. Clair.
Along with UPD, Hope Gas, WVU Environmental Health and Safety and Facilities Management were working to make repairs.
Anyone who smelled gas in the area is being asked to submit reports to UPD at 304-293-3136.
