Americans for Prosperity endorses Morrisey in the race for governor

CHARLESTON, W.Va. Americans for Prosperity (AFP) has announced an endorsement for governor in the 2024 West Virginia primary.

AFP-WV State Director Jason Huffman said West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey gets the endorsement based on his efforts to fight onerous regulations imposed by the federal government.

“We think that he has proven time and time again through his unflinching leadership as attorney general fighting back against federal overeach that he is the guy we need in Charleston,” Huffman said.

AFP is seeking to use their influence to help politicians who are not hesitant to defend the rights of citizens when needed, and Morrisey is one of those leaders, according to Huffman.

“We’re a principal-based organization, and our principles are pretty simple: freedom plus Opportunity equals prosperity, and I think he shares an aggressive form of that vision for the state,” Huffman said.

Other Republicans running in the May primary are Moore Capito, Chris Miller, Mac Warner, J. B. McCuskey, Rashida Yost, and Chase Linko-Looper.
