Baker-Moore receives 40 year sentence in 2016 slaying

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Monongalia County man who pleaded guilty to a second degree murder charge late last year will serve up to 40 years in prison.

Lemir Baker-Moore, 22, pleaded guilty following the 2016 shooting death of Brian Green. Baker-Moore shot Green 11 times following an altercation between Green and David Annonio, a friend of Baker-Moore’s, near the Dollar General in an alley adjacent to High Street.

During the fight, Annonio dropped his firearm. Baker-Moore picked it up and opened fire, killing Green. Green had asked Baker-Moore for a cigarette before the fight began. Annonio apparently initiated the fight, which the Prosecution said Green had been reluctant to engage in.

“Mr. Green was killed for a winning a fight he didn’t even want to be involved,” Prosecuting Attorney Perry DeChristopher said.

The defense had requested Baker-Moore placed in the Anthony Center for youthful offenders. That motion was denied following victim impact statements.

Baker-Moore’s father asked for a lighter sentencing because his son “had a good heart.”

Green’s brother also provided a statement, saying he had “forgiven (Baker-Moore), but that wouldn’t bring my brother back.”
