MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Bartlett Housing Solutions announced that they will close their emergency triage shelter by June 30.
This announcement comes just a week after the West Virginia Coalition to End Homelessness pulled $166,000 of their $500,000 budget for the upcoming 2024–25 fiscal year.
The shelter in the area that will be funded is Rainbow House, a facility exclusively for the LGBTQ+ community.
According to a press release, employees will begin to make arrangements for alternative placement for clients placed at Bartlett House starting next week. Intakes will also discontinue on March 15, including those who check out of the shelter and then check back in.
Extra case managers will be on site to help with placements and will be ready to go the extra mile to make sure every client is housed in a placement that’s adequate.
“Our top priority is to work with each of you as quickly as possible to ensure you have a place to go prior to us closing our doors,” they said in the release.
Bartlett House, located at Hazel’s House of Hope on Scott Avenue, houses 28 beds for people who recently experienced homelessness.
