Body pulled from the river near Granville Wednesday

GRANVVILLE, W.Va. Deputies from the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department have located a body in the Monongahela River Wednesday afternoon.

Granville police were called to Lazzelle Union Road near Scotts Run Road for a body found in the river around 1:09 p.m.

Officers turned the case over to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department once they determined the area was out of their jurisdiction.

The body was removed from the water and transported to the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

The Granville Police Department, Granville Fire Department, Mon EMS, and Monongalia County Medical Examiners all responded to the scene.

No information about age, gender, or possible foul play has been released.
