Bridgeport City Council names interim city manager

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Bridgeport City Council named Chief of Police Mark Rogers as the interim City Manager in a special meeting Wednesday.

Mayor Andy Lang said he received an email Friday from former City Manager Brian Newton declaring his resignation effective Wednesday, August 2. Newton resigned after 14 months in the position.

Rogers was elevated from Deputy Chief to Chief in July 2022 and has worked in the department since 2005.

The task of finding a new city manager will begin at the next city council meeting on August 15.

Deputy Chief of Police Douglas Yost will serve as the interim Chief of the Bridgeport Police Department.
