Careless weapon handling leads to charges

WESTON, W.Va. – A Weston is facing after nearly striking a child playing in the roadway.

Police received several calls about a small child playing in Court Street and was almost hit by a car. At the scene, witnesses told deputies from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department Nathan Reel, 24, almost hit the child and a postal employee also had to take evasive action to avoid the child.

When police interviewed Reel in his residence they observed a loaded weapon within reach of a child in the home.

Reel has been charged with child neglect and is being held in the Central Regional Jail.
