Charleston man charged in Morgantown shooting

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A Charleston man has been in connection with a shooting on the campus of WVU.

WVU Police responded to a report of a large fight with shots fired on Naomi Street between members of the Sigma Chi and Phi Sigma Kappa fraternities.

One of witnesses told police a black male, later identified as Donte Wilkerson, 24, told them he would return with a gun. Moments later he returned with a gun, people then ran into the Sigma Chi house. Wilkerson then ran toward Fifth Avenue and Price Street while firing his gun in the air.

Police were able identify Wilkerson through social media and surveillance images from the area.

Wilkerson has been charged with wanton endangerment and is being held at the North Central Regional Jail.
