City of Morgantown, MUB, and Parking Authority offering help for furloughed federal workers

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — As the government shutdown closes in on five weeks, local efforts are underway to provide assistance to area federal employees.

The City of Morgantown, the Morgantown Utility Board, and the Morgantown Parking Authority are offering assistance for furloughed workers.

Deferred payment on city fees, MUB utility bills, and payment assistance for employees who have monthly permits at city parking garages.

MUB deferred payment includes fees related to water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater services. Morgantown City Council has also applied garbage fees.

Late fees and termination notices wll be waived during this time.

All payment accomodations will be considered on a case-by-case basis and require official documentation at the time of enrollment. The accomodations will last for the duration of the shutdown, according to a city press release.

Additionally, the past due balances that accumulate will be spread across six months.
